Hi, I’m Kathryn— a licensed therapist specializing in individual, couples, and sex therapy. My work is shaped by lived experience, professional training, and a belief that while we can’t erase pain, we can choose how we live with it—with meaning, connection, and care.

I became drawn to mental health and sexuality work in college, while navigating my own experiences as a bisexual woman growing up in a family impacted by mental illness and sexual trauma. These early experiences—and the systems that failed to meet my family’s needs—continue to inform my relational, trauma-aware approach today.

In 2017, I moved to West Philadelphia—cats in tow—to pursue my dream of becoming a sex therapist. I earned my Master’s in Family Therapy with a specialization in Sex Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University, completing clinical training at The Council for Relationships, Eliza Shirley House, and House of Hope and Peace. I became an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist in 2024.

My path into this work also included time in psychiatric hospitals, disability services, and crisis intervention, where I learned what it means to hold space with steadiness, respect, and realness. Since graduate school, I’ve continued in private practice, offering therapy that centers empathy, collaboration, relationships and emotional honesty.

I don’t believe in healing as a finish line. Life will always include grief, harm, and rupture—but I believe we can still build lives full of joy, intimacy, and meaning. I also recognize the privilege I hold in doing this work from a place of relative safety and stability, and I aim to honor that in how I show up for others.

Kathryn Ewers is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist based out of Grays Ferry, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who works with individuals and couples.
